It is important to us that the information you give to us when making an online donation remains secure. Your credit card information is secured by a reputable security company. The information is used only for that particular transaction and is not stored. All transactions between your web browser and NEF Web Site occur over secure SSL connections. We use this SSL technology to prevent such information from being intercepted and read as it is transmitted over the Internet. An icon resembling a padlock is displayed on the bottom of most browsers window during SSL transactions that involve credit cards. Any time NEF asks you for a credit card number on NEF Web Site for payment or for verification purposes, it will be SSL encrypted. Credit Card details are processed automatically and are not stored and are not accessed by NEF employees.

When you visit our site, our computers may automatically collect statistics about your visit. This information does not identify you personally, but rather about a visit to our site. We do not collect individual information about you. We may monitor statistics such as how many people visit our site, the user's IP address, which pages people visit, from which domains our visitors come and which browsers people use. We use these statistics about your visit for aggregation purposes only. These statistics are used to help us improve the performance of our Web site.

NEF Web Site does not currently use any kind of “cookies”.

An exception is being made for our Intranet (A private network for internal use only and not accessible to the public). A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. NEF will only use cookies in the future as described in this section. NEF will only use cookies to help NEF Web Site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your login information.

Our website does not automatically recognize your email address. We collect the email addresses of those who communicate with us by email and we ask for your email address on our "Contact Us" Page and our "Donate Online" page. If you communicate with us by email or give us your email address, we may send you periodical email updates. If you do not want to receive email updates, uncheck the box following the sections where you have given us your email address, email or write to us at the above addresses, or follow the instructions at the bottom of any email update you may receive.

We use email links to allow you to contact us directly with questions or comments. This information is used to respond directly to your questions or comments. We may also use your comments to improve our site and program. We may file the emails you send to follow up with about your comments.

You do not have to provide any personal information on our website unless you choose to do so.

We ask for your name address, and comments on our "Contact Us" page. If you allow us to, we collect this information to and put you on our mailing list for our periodical updates. If you do not want us to send you updates, uncheck the box at the end of the personal information you have given us. We use your comments to improve our site and our program.

We also ask for personal information on our "Donate Online" page. We use this information to acknowledge receipt of your donation for tax purposes. In addition, your name and other information will be placed on our mailing list. If you do not want your personal information to go on our mailing list, uncheck the box at the end of the section.

If you wish to make a donation in honor of or in memory of someone, we will not use the information you give us on that individual for any other purposes.

We DO NOT share email addresses, postal addresses and telephone numbers with any other organization.

NEF may access and/or disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal processes; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of NEF; or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of NEF Web services or members of the public.
