In February 2008, NEF President Alexander Papachristou visited the NEF office and projects in Sudan. In light of the continuing crisis in Darfur and the increasing population of internally displaced Sudanese in and around Khartoum, he met with NEF Sudan finance manager Musa Gismallah and administrative manager Mohamed Ali to review NEF's programs. NEF plans to hire a program manager to expand its current activities in Sudan and Mr. Papachristou interviewed candidates for this position.

Quality Standards--Motto of NEF-Morocco's Summer Camp 2007 - posted Tuesday, August 14, 2007
A total of 111 students, including 35 girls, from rural areas of Iminoulaoune and Ghessate and the City of Ouarzazate, went to camp this summer. They are eager learners and participants in NEF's (Near East Foundation) breakthrough primary education reform in Morocco's remote desert and High Atlas mountain areas. All of the rural campers and half of those from the city had never seen the sea before splashing and playing around was part of their daily morning routine from July 19 to August 2.

Shant Mardirossian, Chairman of NEF (Near East Foundation), has announced the appointment of Alexander Papachristou as NEF President. He replaces Interim President Linda K. Jacobs, Ph.D., former Chair of the Board.
