Donate to the Near East Foundation

The Near East Foundation needs your help, now more than ever, in support of our mission to help people in the Middle East and Africa build better lives for themselves and their communities.

We rely primarily on individual contributions and the commitment of our institutional partners. Today we are working harder than ever before to help hundreds of thousands of people help themselves – to overcome poverty, poor health, illiteracy, and lack of opportunity. This has been our fundamental mission since 1915, and we invite you to join this important effort.

To support the Near East Foundation, you can:

  • donate online
  • send NEF a check
  • give real estate
  • make NEF a primary or contingent beneficiary of a life insurance policy
  • provide for NEF in your will

The Near East Foundation is unique among international development agencies in that all administrative costs, including fundraising, are covered by our endowment.

As a result, your donation to Near East Foundation goes directly overseas to support our projects in nine countries, positively affecting thousands of people. All individual contributions have a direct and immediate impact in the communities where we work.

Yes, I want to contribute directly to Near East Foundation projects in the Middle East and Africa . I understand that my gift goes directly overseas to help communities build better lives for children and families, and that nothing is withheld for administration.

What Makes The Near East Foundation Distinctive
In December 2000, Lyle Jaffe completed twelve years of dedicated and highly professional service with the Foundation in Lesotho and moved into a part time consulting role for NEF in Southern Africa. In typical generous and thoughtful fashion, Lyle at the end of his assignment took the occasion to reflect on the essence of NEF, what is it that makes the organization distinctive, what is its comparative advantage. The following paragraphs, particularly Lyle’s discussion of power sharing, should inspire us with a sense of pride in our association with NEF.
NEF In Mali, Why It Makes Sense
I first visited the NEF program in Mali eight years ago. I was looking for ideas and inspiration for NEF’s fledging program in Morocco for which I was at the time responsible. That trip in 1994 had a profound influence not only on the development of the Morocco program but also on my own life. It served as an important catalyst for my decision to return to graduate school four years later. Now in my dual roles as an NEF Board Member and as a Ph.D. candidate, finishing up dissertation research inspired by NEF's groundbreaking work in Mali in community-based natural resource management, I have the unique opportunity to reflect from three different perspectives on the role of NEF in this West African country.
NEF In Jordan A Few People Making A Great Difference
My trip was informative. It was my first time to visit NEF in Jordan. I was there on an assignment to work with NEF Director Hajem Halaseh to prepare a feasibility study for a new commercial fish farm. My trip allowed me to see first hand the work the Foundation is doing in Jordan and its impact on people across the Kingdom.
